This is a 5th generation USB Adapter specially designed for speech recognition. It uses the latest USB circuitry to give an extremely Low Internal Noise and a High Signal-to-Noise ratio with Full Duplex connection for microphones and speakers.

The device is largely immune to the electrical interference suffered by many internal sound chipsets mounted on the computer main board and replaces the sound card.

The Buddy 6G is USB 2.0 Plug and Play compliant and uses standard Windows® drivers. The device is extremely small (28 mm x 55 mm) with a 75 mm cable and standard 3.5 mm sockets.

The electronics are based on a German designed and manufactured USB/DSP chipset. A green LED indicates power on (flashing for data transmission) and an amber LED shows that the mute switch has been operated. The Buddy is compatible with any of the speech recognition headsets and handheld microphones supplied by IT Speaking (but not the Voice Tracker™) and is capable of true stereo with an appropriate headset. The Buddy 6G is now fully compatible with the Sennheiser Headset and no longer requires an additional power connector pin.

The audio gain of the Buddy USB lies between that of the Andrea and VXi half-duplex USB. A further major advantage is that this USB device does not require Auxiliary Power with the popular Andrea ANC microphones.

The Buddy USB 6G adapter is compatible with headsets with conventional wiring as well as the Sennheiser ME3-N headset.

NB: Compatible with Dragon NaturallySpeaking 4 or higher, MS SAPI 5 based applications, IBM ViaVoice. Other software not tested for compatibility.

• Total Harmonic Distortion - THR is better than -90 dB for both A/D (recording) and D/A (playback).
• Power Consumption - USB bus powered with less than 100 ma current at 5V DC.
• Temperature - Operating min -10°C, max 70°C. Storage min -40°C, max 75°C.
