In most respects the performance of Preferred and Professional versions are the same. The Preferred version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking has the same general features as the Professional version. Most general users in an educational or home environment will not benefit from the features of the Professional version.

The Professional version includes optional tools for network deployments, such as support for Citrix thin clients.

HANDS-FREE USE:   Dragon NaturallySpeaking offers complete hands-free use of the PC for users with disabilities. It is the ideal tool to assist people with carpal tunnel syndrome or other repetitive stress injuries.

SYSTEM SPECIFICATION: DNS will operate with lower than the recommended specification. However, results will often be erratic and disappointing.

We recommend an Intel® Pentium®, 2.4 GHz processor (1.6 GHz dual core processor) or equivalent AMD processor.  1 GB RAM is required (despite some product boxes which state that 512 MB is adequate). 2 GB RAM is advisable with Vista.  Free hard disk space: 2 GB. A  DVD-ROM drive is required for installation. A  basic noise-cancelling headset microphone is included with all boxed products - in many cases users will find pefromance is improved by selecting other types of microphone.

Dragon is not compatible with 64 bit processors.

OPERATING SYSTEM: Windows Server 2003, Win XP SP2 or higher - 32 bit - Home & Prof, Win 2000 SP4 or higher, Windows VistaTM or Windows VistaTM SP1, 32-bit (all 4 editions)

ACTIVATION: Activation is necessary through a web connection; alternative manual activation is a tedious and error-prone operation and is best avoided.
